Dartmouth – Norma Jean Avila, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Elder Avila and the daughter of the late Roy P. and Betty Elma Warnell.
Norma Jean, who was born in Bowling Green, KY, lived in this area for over 60 years. She worked for many years at John I. Paulding while also lovingly caring for her family.
She is survived by 2 children: Michelle Fournier and her husband, Lawrence, of West Wareham, and Gregory Roy Avila and his wife, Donna (Pinto) of New Market, Alabama; 5 grandchildren: Heather Truscinski, Jacob Avila, Melissa Sullivan, Julie McPherson and Todd Fournier; sisters, Lucille Lindsey and Anna Lawson, both from Bowling Green, KY; as well as 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Jo Carolyn Poteet and two brothers, Paul Edward Warnell and Roy Glenn Warnell.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2pm at Smith Mills Congregational Church in Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her memory to South Coast Hospice & Palliative Care Services. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
