New Bedford – Doris Constance (Lemay) Filiault, age 95, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Oaks Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late Norman J. Filiault and the daughter of the late Laura (Gendron) Lemay and Arthur Lemay.
Doris was a lifelong ballroom dancer, having met her husband at the Lincoln Park Ball Room in 1938, enjoying the Big Band sounds.
She cherished the company of wonderful friends over the years. Doris especially enjoyed trips with the 6th Bristol Club gang, the Veary and Tavares gang, and later, weekly dances at the Liberal Club.
Despite working full-time, and bringing up her family, she always provided holiday dinners at her home. Doris enjoyed everything musical, and, of course, the Patriots, especially Tom B.
Doris leaves behind her daughter, Jeanne, of New Bedford, her son, Ron and his wife, Ruth, of Sacramento, Ca; her brother, Conrad Lemay of Bradenton, FL, sister in-law Lillian Lemay of Fairhaven and several nieces, a nephew and their families.
She is predeceased by her son, Paul, sister Loretta Lemay Gallant and a brother, Gerald Lemay.
Special thanks go to the compassionate and caring staff of the Oaks. Thanks to all, including Beacon Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Private services were placed in the care of Perry Funeral home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
