Virginia (Alecrim) Cunha

New Bedford – Virginia (Alecrim) Cunha, of New Bedford, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at The Oaks. She was the wife of the late Joseph Cunha and Mario Tavares. Mrs. Cunha was the mother of David M. Tavares, husband of Francine, of New Bedford. She was the sister of Isabel Oliveira of New Bedford and also the sister of the late Vivian Hevey, Lillian Pimental and John Alecrim Jr.

Mrs. Cunha was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Oliveira) Alecrim. Mrs. Cunha was formerly employed at various local fish plants as a fish cutter until her retirement.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 - 8 P.M., on Wednesday May 25, 2005 and at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA.
