Mariana (Carvalho) Dearruda

New Bedford - Mariana (Carvalho) deArruda, also known as Mariana Pintada, of S. Dartmouth, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at St Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jose Agostinho Arruda. Mrs. deArruda was the mother of Maria doCarmo Rodrigues of S. Dartmouth, Maria Gloria Oliveira of New Bedford, Maria Vidalia Medeiros of New Bedford, Maria Constantina Arruda of S. Dartmouth and Jose "Zeca" Arruda of Fairhaven. She was the sister of Joao Carvalho of Fall River and Gloria Costa of New Bedford. Mrs. DeArruda had 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Conceicao Senra, Maria doCarmo Geronimo, Amelia Carvalho, and Manuel, Jose and Carlos Carvalho

Mrs. DeArruda was born in Pilar, Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and has lived in this area the past 41 Years. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Augusta Carvalho. Mrs. DeArruda was formerly employed at Paul Mode’s Inc. as a stitcher until her retirement.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday May 25, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 P.M., on Tuesday May 24, 2005 at Perry Funeral Home.
