New Bedford – Reverend Domingo Talavera, age 86, passed away on Saturday August 1, 2015 at Sacred Heart Home. He was the loving husband of the late Maria Luiza (de Medeiros) Talavera and the son of the late Natalia (Galarza) and Eleuterio Talavera.
Rev. Domingo was born in Puerto Rico and, after moving to this area, worked as a Presser for many years until his retirement. He was a devoted member of the American Evangelistic Association as well as an ordained minister of the Gospel.
His family includes his 10 children: Abraham Talavera, Abigail Rodriguez and her husband, Emiliano, Amaris Rodriguez and her companion, Rafael Ortiz, Nephtali Talavera and his wife, Judy, all of New Bedford, Domingo Talavera, Jr. of Worcester, Ma, Maria Padilla and her husband, Daniel, of New Bedford, Martha Soto and her husband, Samuel, of Cranston, RI, David Talavera and his wife, Angie, of North Carolina, the late Elizabeth Vasquez Talavera and the late Isaac Talavera; 2 sisters: Juanita Montanez and Carmen Martinez, both of New Bedford; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. with a Religious Service to begin promptly at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
