Marion - Raymond C. Morin, age 85 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Sippican Nursing Home.
Born in Freetown, a son of the late Emile Morin of Montreal, Canada and Emma (Rioux) Morin of Nova Scotia.
Raymond was a truck driver. He drove cattle for White’s Farm Dairy. He also worked for National Wholesale and then for 22 years at Shepard and Justin Clothing before retiring. Once he retired, he worked a part-time job as a bus driver for special needs children. Raymond loved bowling and the Boston Red Sox. He would love to watch games and when he wasn’t able to watch them on TV, he would always listen on the radio.
When he retired from Shepard and Justin Clothing, he started his hobby of making wood crafts. He made wooden toys and mailboxes. He loved to make the train sets, some 8 feet long, Army tanks and fire engines. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Tiverton, RI, as well as a member of the Elks, Bristol County RI and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
His smile lit up the room and he will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and family.
His family includes 5 children: Raymond Mainville of Copperas Cove, TX, Bruce Morin of New Bedford, Steve Mainville of Lexena, Kansas, Evelyn Barthelet of Moosup, CT and Tammy Correia of New Bedford; as well as 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Raymond was the last surviving brother of 8 siblings: Paul Morin, Robert Morin, Edmund Morin, George Morin, Eugene Morin, Alice Morin, Rita Morin and Annette Hammond.
Visitation with his cremated remains present will take place in the funeral home on Saturday August 1 from 12 – 3 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
