Manuel J. Paiva

New Bedford – Manuel J. Paiva, age 71, passed away on Sunday July 19, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the son of the late Gilhermina (Mota) and Manuel Paiva.
Born in Vila do Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores, Mr. Paiva came to this country in 1975 where he worked as a recycler for many years until his retirement.
His family includes his siblings: Urania Paiva Mendonca of New Bedford, Conceicao Paiva of St. Michael, Oscar Mota and his wife, Maria, of Swansea, the late Zilda Paiva and the late Jose Mota.
His funeral will be Thursday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
