Edith A. Nichols

New Bedford – Edith A. Nichols, died Tuesday April 12, 2005, at Taber Street Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Gloria S. Alcobia. She is survived by her 2 children: Catherine C. Nichols of New Bedford and Kenneth A. husband of Christine Nichols of Bridgewater. Mrs. Nichols was the longtime companion of Robert Helgeland of New Bedford. She was the grandmother of James W. Nichols of Bridgewater. She also leaves behind 2 uncles, an aunt and several cousins.

Mrs. Nichols was the proprietor of Rent an Event, was curator of the Hetty Green Museum and was well known for her portrayal of Hetty Green.

Mrs. Nichols was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday April 16, 2005 at 9 A.M. at St Lawrence Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 –7 P.M. and prior to the Funeral Mass at 8 A.M. on Saturday, at Perry Funeral Home.
