Jose L. Brigida

New Bedford – Jose L. Brigida, age 96 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday May 30, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of 64 years to Maria C. (Vieira) Brigida of New Bedford, and son of the late Maria Isabel (Fernandes) and Jose L. Brigida. He was born in Corvo, Azores and moved to New Bedford in 1968. He worked at Cornell Dubilier as a Laborer.
Jose was dedicated to his family and enjoyed gardening and doing projects around the house.
He is survived by his wife Maria C. Brigida of New Bedford, his children: Maria L. Silveira of New Bedford, Maria Brigida-Gil of New Bedford and her late husband Luciano, and Arthur M. Brigida of Dartmouth as well as his 5 Grandchildren: Anthony Silveira, Jeffrey C. Silveira, Brigitte M. Gil, Brianna M. Gil, and Noah J. Brigida , and 2 great grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr. and Carina Lynn, his niece Guiomar Trindade. He was also predeceased by 5 siblings.
His funeral will begin on Tuesday morning at 8:45 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St Julie Billiart Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.
