Dartmouth – Richard F. Bailey, Jr., age 74 of New Bedford, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was the loving husband of Geraldine (Cardoza) Bailey and the son of Richard F. Bailey, Sr. who is 100 years old and the late Mildred C. (Collins) Bailey.
Born in Fall River, Richard was the owner of Westford Construction and built homes in New Bedford and the surrounding communities.
Corporal Richard F. Bailey, Jr. proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Bailey of New Bedford, son, Eric Bailey and his wife, Stacey of Rochester, stepchildren: Sherry Robillard of New Bedford and Nicholas Robillard of Attleboro; a granddaughter, Kelly Robillard of New Bedford, a sister, Linda L. Williams of Mount Dora, Fla; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 20 from 4 – 7 P.M. Cremation will follow. A Memorial Service for Mr. Richard F. Bailey Jr. will be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 195 Whitman Street, New Bedford on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. and burial of his cremains with full military honors will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
