Joseph F. Cruz

New Bedford – Joseph F. Cruz, 88 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care. He was the loving husband of Viola D. (Lima) Cruz the late Cecelia (Lewis) Cruz and the son of late Mary R. (Sylvia) and Joseph F. Cruz.
Mr. Cruz was a lifelong resident of this area and worked as an industrial commercial photographer. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of The VFW Post 6643 in East Freetown.
He is survived by his son: Todd J. Cruz, husband of Maria, 3 daughters: Jenny Cruz of Arizona, Julie Cruz of Florida and Lori Cruz of Mass and 6 grandchildren. He was also father of the late Penny Ann Cruz.
His funeral will be Tuesday beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neumann Church in E. Freetown at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers please send contributions to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
