Antonio Machado, Jr.

New Bedford – Antonio Machado, Jr., age 62 of New Bedford passed away on Thursday March 19, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the long time loving companion of Lisa Dunn and the son of Antonio Machado, Sr. and the late Lillian (Bento) Machado.
Mr. Machado was a lifelong resident of this area and was a Proprietor of Southside Boxing Gym where he provided instruction for children and adults. He was recognized by the city council for his dedication of teaching boxing to children. Also, Antonio was a lover of all animals.
His surviving family includes his father, Antonio, Sr. of Missouri, his long-time companion, Lisa Dunn of New Bedford; 3 children: Antonio Machado III of New Bedford, Tommy Machado and Christy Lee Rebelo of New Bedford; 1 grandchild, Lia Toni Maria Machado with one on the way; sister, Debra Machado of Missouri.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 – 11 A.M. followed by burial in Rural Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
