New Bedford – Ruth H. “Tillie” Jackson, age 92 of Dartmouth, passed away on Monday March 16, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She is the widow of Elson C. Jackson and the daughter of the late Edith (Allen) and the late John Sheehan.
Born in New Bedford, Mrs. Jackson grew up and spent most of her life in Russells Mills. She was a Graduate of Dartmouth High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from SMU. Until her retirement, Ruth worked for many years with disabled and special needs children at The Schwartz Center. She also enjoyed meeting with her friends every morning at Sunrise Bakery in Dartmouth.
Her family includes 5 children: Lindelle O’Keefe of Dartmouth, the late Sharon Woyciechouski and her husband, Michael, Judith Perry of Franklin, Ma., Shelley Wood and her wife, Joanne Cayer, of Brockton and Becky Perduta and her husband, George, of Connecticut; as well as 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 2 nieces and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her brothers: John “Jack” Sheehan and Frank Sheehan.
Mrs. Jackson will be cremated. A Memorial will take place at Allen’s Neck Friends Meeting House, 739 Horseneck Rd. Dartmouth, Ma 02748 on Saturday, March 21 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial of cremains will be private. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
