John J. Spencer

Dartmouth-John J. Spencer died January 13th 2005 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the husband of the late Inez (Alves) Spencer. He was the brother of Herminia “Mina” Santos of New Bedford, and Step-father of Albert Houtman Jr., Olive Smith, and Patricia Jackson all of New Bedford. He was uncle to John and Anthony Reis, and Laura Vieira all of New Bedford, and Nadeen Gomes of Boston, MA. He was brother of the late Amelia “Mae” Correia, and Manuel J. Spencer.

Mr. Spenser was the son of the late Joesph and Laura (Almeida) Spencer. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all his life. He was a Lieutenant in the Massachusetts Department of Correction retiring after 20 years of service. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII.

The Funeral Mass will take place Saturday January 15th 2005 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 7 A.M. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours are Friday January 14th 2005 from 5-8 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth Street New Bedford, MA.
