Raymond Perry, age 85, passed away unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital on Monday, January 19, 2015. Raymond was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Perry. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Lucy and Victor Perry, he lived in New Bedford all of his life. Raymond was the loving father of Deborah Morris and her late husband David of New Bedford. He was the loving grandfather of Scott Morris and his wife Michelle of Harwich, Jessica Pacheco and her husband Barry of New Bedford and Ashley Morris and her fiancé Jason Fredette of Acushnet. He was also the loving great grandfather of Peyton and Paige Morris and Adyson Pacheco. Raymond was the brother of the late Flo Encarnacao. He is also survived by his nephew Kenneth Encarnacao, his wife Bonnie, several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as sisters and brothers in law.
Raymond served in the United States Navy on the Aircraft Carrier USS Valley Forge. He worked at Morse Twist Drill until its closing, and then retired. Raymond was a lifetime member of the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association (MBBA). He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing on Nauset Beach and around the Elizabeth Islands. Raymond’s favorite hobbies included hand carving seagulls, making sailor’s valentines and many other unique creations.
Raymond’s Celebration of life with his ashes present will be held on Thursday January 29, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. Religious service will be celebrated during visiting hours. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements are by the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to the MBBA, PO Box 1264, East Harwich, MA 02645.
