John F. Jesse

Wareham – John F. Jesse, age 88 of Wareham, formerly of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at The Tremont Rehabilitation + Skilled Care Center. He was the loving husband of Mary (Santos) Jesse and the son of Mary (Cabral) and John F. Jesus. Excluding his time in the military, Mr. Jesse was a lifelong resident of this area and worked for the New Bedford Police Department achieving the rank of Lieutenant before his retirement.
Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class John F. Jesse proudly served our country during WWII in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Wareham; son, Jeffery W. Jesse and his wife, Nancy of Marion; 3 grandchildren: Jonathan, Jerelle and Justine Jesse; 1 great grandchild: Cristian Jesse; 2 siblings: Antone Jesus and Isabel Britton, both of New Bedford; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
John was predeceased by his brother, Herbert Jesus.

The family of Mr. Jesse would like to thank the staff at The Tremont for the dedication and care they showed to their loved one.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 2 - 4 P.M. on Sunday, January 4. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial of his cremains will be private. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked everyone to take the time to thank a veteran or a police officer for their service.
