Gabriel V. Cordeiro

New Bedford – Gabriel V. Cordeiro, age 88 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Adelina (Pacheco) Cordeiro and the son of the late Antonia (deViveiros) and Herculano Vieira Cordeiro.
Mr. Cordeiro was born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, came to this country in 1968 and worked as a Machine Operator at Frionor Seafood until his retirement.
He is survived by his 3 children: Gabriella Vasques and her husband, Carlos, of Acushnet, Ana Cordeiro of New Bedford and Zelia Polutchko and her husband David of Mansfield, MA; 7 grandchildren: Nicholas, Kenneth, David Jr., Craig, Jillian, Garrett and Genevieve; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Gabriel was predeceased by 2 siblings Antonio Cordeiro and Maria do Carmo dos Santos.
Mr. Cordeiro’s funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M.
