Elsie (Sylvia) Santos

New Bedford – Elsie S. Santos, aged 87 years, of Reading,MA., died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at the Visiting Nurse's Hospice House of Middlesex East. She was the wife of the late David M. Santos. She was the mother of Victor S. Santos, husband of Judith of N. Reading, MA., and mother of the late Duarte Santos. She was mother-in-law of Joan Santos of Rockville Ctr., N.Y.. She is survived by 4 grandchildren: David, Paul, Jonathon and Gregory . and a greatgranddaughter: Courtney.

Mrs. Santos was born in Plymouth, MA.; the daughter of Manuel D. and Guilhermina (David) Sylvia and lived in this area from 1943 - 1966. She then moved to Sandwich where she lived until 1997, moving at that time to N. Andover , MA. She worked as teacher at Upper Cape Cod Regional. Mrs. Santos also worked as a hairdresser, an author and a publisher of children’s books. Mrs. Santos received her Masters degree at Fitchburg College at the age of 50..

Her funeral will beTuesday, December 21, 2004, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rivet St. New Bedford, MA. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday, December 20, 2004 from 4 - 8 P.M.
