New Bedford – Albertina Silva, age 81 of New Bedford passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at New Bedford Health Care Center. She was the widow of William “Chu Cha” Silva and the daughter of Rosa (Fermino) and Macario Souza Ramos.
Mrs. Silva was a lifelong resident of this area. In her early years, she worked as Seamstress in several factories then worked as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Luke’s Hospital until her retirement.
Albertina was a woman with a heart of gold who would do anything for anybody at a moments notice. She enjoyed shopping, listening and dancing to Cape Verdean music and cooking for her loving family.
Her surviving family includes her 2 children: Rosetta Silva of Georgia and Albert “Bubba” Silva and his wife Donna of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren: Trenna Britto and her husband, Mark, Ebony Silva and his wife, Abbie, Mahogany Silva, Alexis Silva, Rael Silva, William Silva and Macario Nelson; a brother, Albert Ramos of Acushnet; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 1 grandson, Ashley Silva, 1 sister, Emily Pina and 3 brothers: Joseph “Sonny” Ramos, Michael “Mikey” Ramos and Wilson Ramos.
Mrs. Silva will be cremated. Visitation with her cremated remains present will take place in the funeral home on Saturday, December 6 from 8:00 – 10:00 A.M. Burial in St. John Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
