Edmund J. Harrington, Jr.

New Bedford - Edmund J. Harrington Jr., age 83 of Dartmouth passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband and best friend of Loretta (Pacellini) Harrington of Dartmouth and the son of Bertha (Limoges) and Edmund J. Harrington, Sr.
Mr. Harrington was a hard-working man who was the skipper for 45 years on many scallop boats out of the Port of New Bedford. He was respected and well-liked by many who worked and knew him. Edmund enjoyed classic cars and many outdoor activities. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.
Edmund was also a proud member of the Army Reserves.
His family includes his wife, Loretta, of Dartmouth; 7 children: David Harrington of Dartmouth, Stephen Harrington of New Bedford, Brian Harrington of New Hampshire, Kathleen Harrington and Sharon Barbero, both of Dartmouth, Edmund J. Harrington, III of Rochester and the late Maureen Harrington; his sister, Jeanette of Hawaii; as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 4 nephews.
