NEW BEDFORD — Natalia S. (Simoes) Gaspar, age 53 years, died Friday May 4, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital, after a long illness. She was the mother of Sandra Smith wife of Tyrone Smith of Dartmouth and Monica Gaspar fiancée of Steven Amaral of New Bedford. She was the grandmother of Isaiah Smith and Leeann Amaral, the sister of Joaquim M. Simoes, Maria L. Simoes, Joao Freire and Antonio Simoes Jr. all of New Bedford, and the late Antonio Freire. Mrs. Gaspar is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many others that loved her.
Mrs. Gaspar was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Cordeiro) Simoes. She was born in New Bedford, lived here all of her life. She was a hairdresser with a local hair salon. Mrs. Gaspar was the former owner of Goulart Square Bakery. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and was a graduate of Le Baron's Hairdressing School.
Mrs. Gaspar's funeral will be Wednesday from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, New Bedford, at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hour will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
