Alba M. Santangelo

New Bedford – Alba M. Santangelo, age 91, of New Bedford, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of Dominic A. Santangelo and daughter of the late Assunta (Leoncini) and Levio Cassiani. Alba was born in Bridgewater, MA. and lived in New Bedford since 1948. She worked at West End Laundry and later worked in the cafeteria at Greater New Bedford Vocational High School until her retirement.
Alba is survived by her loving daughter, Susan M. Le Boeuf, wife of Albert N., of New Bedford, her beloved grandchildren, Marc A. Le Boeuf and his companion Carolyn Sawyer of South Portland, Maine and Katie Le Boeuf of New Bedford and her special pride and joy, her great granddaughter, Nicole Dominique Le Boeuf. She is also survived by her dear niece Karen Quintin and 2 nephews: Richard and Ronald Cassiani. Alba was the sister of the late Aldo Cassiani, Irene Tierney and Jean Cassiani.
Alba was a dedicated family matriarch who loved her family and was always helping, cooking and entertaining all who entered her home.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility, St. Luke’s Hospital and South Coast Hospice for their loving, compassionate care and concern over the past few months.
Mrs. Santangelo’s funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Parish at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements have been placed in the care of the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
