New Bedford – Jacqueline “Jackie” A. Lavallee, age 46 of New Bedford, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on Sunday, July 20, 2014. She was born in Rehoboth, New Mexico and was the daughter of Elizabeth (Topaha) and Johnnie Kellywood. She leaves behind a son, Kevin Lavallee, of New Bedford, and a daughter, Nicole Ann Lavallee of Whitensville, Ma.
Jackie graduated from Cortez High School in Colorado. After her time in the military, she moved to this area and worked for Alternatives in Northbridge, Ma and at the Y.M.C.A in New Bedford.
She was a proud member of the Navajo Nation.
Technical Sergeant Lavallee proudly served her country in the United States Air Force during the Persian Gulf War. She remained in the USAF for 19 years where she worked as a Maintenance Systems Data Analyst. During her military time she was stationed in Altas, Oklahoma, Grand Forks, North Dakota, McGuire Air Force base, New Jersey and South Korea. Some of her decorations she was awarded during her time in the Air Force were The Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Service Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service with 3 Oak Clusters, and the USAF NOO PME Graduate Ribbon.
Visitation with her cremated remains present will be held at a later date. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
