Lucia Maria Horta

New Bedford – Lucia Maria Horta, age 65 of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Manuel Horta and the daughter of the late Georgina Luisa (Goncalves) and Vital Goncalves. Mrs. Horta was born in Pico, Azores moved to the New Bedford area in 1972 and has lived here since, she worked at Chamberlain as an Assembler. Lucia was a member of Irmandade do Espirito Santo do Pico.
She leaves behind her daughter: Michell Horta of New Bedford, 3 grandsons: Dylan and Owen Trombly and Nathaniel Horta, a brother Vital Goncalves of Pico, Azores. Lucia was also the mother of the late Steven Horta.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, June 17 beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend.
