Conceicao C. Moniz

Conceicao C. Moniz, age 86 of New Bedford, passed away, peacefully, on Monday, June 2, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Jose E. Moniz and the daughter of Maria Isabel and Bento Craveiro. Conceicao was born in Agua De Pau, St. Michael, Azores, moved to this country in 1982 where she devoted herself to the upbringing of her family.
Mrs. Moniz was dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed working on her farm in St. Michael but, most of all, cherished the time with her beloved family.
She is survived by 6 children: Norberto C. Moniz and his wife, Lucilia, of New Bedford, Jose C. Moniz and his wife, Maria, of Acushnet, Virginio C. Moniz and his wife, Conceicao, Armando C. Moniz, Victor C. Moniz and John C Moniz, all of New Bedford; 4 siblings: Isabel Sousa, Gloria Branquinho, Fernanda Cunha, all of New Bedford, and Jose Craveiro of St. Michael, Azores; as well as 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter in-law, Sandra Moniz.
Her funeral will be Thursday, June 5 beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend.
