Dartmouth – Maria G. DaSilva, age 94, passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Francisco B. DaSilva and the daughter of Rosalina and Manuel Goulart. Mrs. DaSilva was born in Terceira, Azores, moved to this country in 1961 and was a devoted mother to her loving family.
She is survived by her 4 children: Maria S. Pedro Vieira and her husband, Luis, of New Bedford, Diamantina S. Cabral and her husband, Richard, of S. Dartmouth, Alberto DaSilva and his wife, Fatima, of New Bedford, and Joao B. Silva and his wife, Ana, of New Bedford; a sister, Izaura Costa of New Bedford, as well as 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by many siblings.
The family of Mrs. DaSilva would like to acknowledge Sandy and Fatima from Overlook Hospice and Palliative Care for their kindness in caring for their mother.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, May 28 beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church of S. Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
