Lucien J. Blaise, age 77 of New Bedford, died, peacefully, on April 30, 2014 at Sippican Healthcare. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Ayres) Blaise and the son of Celina Marie (Moraux) and George J. Blaise. Lucien was born in Long Beach, Ca and, after his time in the military, moved to this area and was employed as a Fire Fighter for the New Bedford Fire Department until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and wood working, but most of all, Mr. Blaise loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Lucien proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
His surviving family includes, his wife, Dolores formerly of New Bedford, 3 children: Linda J. Ferreira and her husband, Michael, of Acushnet, Karen E. McMasters and her husband, John, of Raynham, and Mark S. Blaise and his fiancée, Stephanie Soares, of New Bedford; his brother, Roger G. Blaise and his wife, Dorothy A., of Acushnet; as well as 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. Visitation will take place in the funeral home on Friday, May 16 from 9:30 - 11:30 A.M. followed by burial of his cremated remains with full military honors in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
