Maria T. Pereira

New Bedford – Maria T. Pereira, 96 of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Royal Tabor Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late Joao L. Pereira and the daughter of the late Maria Guilhermina (Mota) and Joao Julio Souza. She was born in Cabouco, St. Michael, Azores, moved to this country in 1974 where she resided the rest of her life.
Survivors include her children: Alberto Pereira and his wife Maria of S. Dartmouth, Manuel Pereira of Florida, Berta Malhinha of New Bedford, Jose Pereira of Taunton, Otilia Cordeiro of Pawtucket, Cidalia DaSilva of Toronto, Canada, Teresa DaCosta and her husband Manuel of New Bedford, Maria Gomes and her husband Armando of Fall River, and Susan Barbosa of New Bedford, 1 brother, Joao Julio Sousa and his wife, Connie, of Taunton, as well as 23 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, April 30 at 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M.. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
