Maria Jesus Braga

New Bedford - Maria Jesus Braga, 63 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the loving wife of Teofilo M. Braga and the daughter of the late Maria Margarida (Carreiro) and the late Jose Dos Santos. She was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores, moved to this country in 1976 and was a dedicated mother and wife to her loving family.
Survivors include her husband, Teofilo, of New Bedford; 5 children: Paulo Braga, fiancée of Dawn Welshman of Troy, NH, Miguel Braga and his wife, Sheri, of New Bedford, Teofilo S. Braga and his wife, Carla, of New Bedford, Elizabeth Blanchette and her husband, Tony, of Fairhaven, and Anna Braga of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many siblings in St. Michael.
Her funeral will be Friday, April 25 beginning at 8:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
