Richard Marshall

New Bedford - Richard Marshall, age 91 of New Bedford, died on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at St Lukes Hospital. He was the loving husband of Rita E. (Auger) Marshall and the son of Olivia (Pimental) and John G. Marshall. He was born in New Bedford, lived here all his life and worked as a steam engineer for UMASS Dartmouth.
Mr. Marshall was a WWII Veteran in the U.S. Army and a member of Andrew Dahill VFW Post #1531.
Survivors include his wife, Rita, of New Bedford; 3 children: Rita M. Girard of Fairhaven, Richard E. Marshall of New Bedford and Ida M. Bernier of Cripple Creek, Co.; 3 grandchildren: Christopher Girard, Stephanie Marshall and Marshall Bernier; 2 great grandchildren: Jake and Cydney Girard, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Marshall’s funeral will be on Friday April 11 at 9:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
