Lupercia Medeiros

Lupercia Medeiros, age 87 of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at New Bedford Health Care Center after a period of declining health. She was the loving widow Silvestre Medeiros and the daughter of Maria (Furtado) and Joao Tiburcio. She was born in Ribeira Quente, Azores, moved to this country in 1969 and worked as a Presser for Mackintosh.

Her family includes her 4 children: Jose L. Medeiros and his wife, Ana, of Acushnet, Mario Medeiros and his wife, Dorothy, of New Bedford, Marita Vejar of New Bedford and Anna Vieira of Dartmouth; 3 sisters Dina Medeiros, Delfina Amaral and Elidia DaSilva; as well as 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Medeiros was predeceased by 4 siblings: Joao Tiburcio, Egidio Tiburcio, Maria Medeiros and Ester Tiburcio.
Mrs. Medeiros’ funeral will be Monday beginning at 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
