Alfredo Raposo Dacosta Larguinho

Alfredo Raposo DaCosta Larguinho, age 86 of New Bedford, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the widower of Maria O. Pereira and the son of Maria DaLuz (Tome) and Antonio Raposo Larguinho. He was born in St. Michael, Azores, moved to this country in April of 1966 and worked as a Machine Operator at Shawmut Mills until his retirement.
His surviving family includes his 6 children: Maria Medeiros of New Bedford, Antonio Larguinho of New Bedford, Jose Larguinho of Freetown, Fatima Brasil of Westport, David Larguinho of Dartmouth and Helena Viegas of New Bedford; as well as 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 sons in-law, 3 daughters in-law and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by several brothers and one sister.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M. Mr. Larguinho’s funeral will be Wednesday beginning at 8:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home.
