Antone P. Sylvia

New Bedford – Antone P. Sylvia , age 86 of Dartmouth, died on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at his home with his family at his side after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Clara E. (Pacellini) Sylvia of South Dartmouth. Born in New Bedford he was the son of the late Fernanda (Brandao) and Antone P. Sylvia Sr. Mr Sylvia worked as a General Foreman at Aerovox for 35 yrs, and also worked at Silversteins Clothing. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWll . Mr Sylvia was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Indians, loved sports , especially playing golf, he enjoyed painting and also loved his visits to Florida .
His family includes his loving daughter Susan M. Sylvia, 3 godchildren; Edna Walsh, Steven Rezendes, and Delaney Santos, 2 sisters Edna P. Sylvia and Helen Sylvia as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mildred Rezendes and her husband Ernest
Mr Sylvia’s funeral will be Monday, February 24 beginning at 8:45 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church S. Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday evening in the funeral home from 4 –7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: St. Anne’s Cancer Center or Community Nurses of Fairhaven
