George Mello

New Bedford – George Mello, age 82 of New Bedford, died Thursday February 13, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Lillian (Arruda) Mello and the son of Mary (Furtado) and Joseph Mello. George was born in South Dartmouth, lived all of his life in this area and worked as a Foreman at Cornell Dubilier until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Holy Ghost Society.
His family includes his 3 children: Gayle Gadue and her husband, Edward, of New Bedford, the late Wayne Mello and Randall Mello of N. Dartmouth; 5 grandchildren: Wayne, Corey, Ross, Gregg and Brooke, as well 1 deceased brother, Alfred Mello.
His funeral will be Tuesday beginning at 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
