Providence - Steven F. Pereira, 57 of Dartmouth, passed from this life Saturday January 11, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, R.I. surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Francisco A. Pereira Jr., and Evelyn (Ramos) Pereira, he resided in the area all his life. Mr. Pereira was a well-known fish cutter and formerly a playground monitor at the Quinn Elementary School in Dartmouth.
Survivors include his 3 sisters, Patricia Duval and her husband Leo, Beverly Ariagno and her husband Russell of Dartmouth, Kathleen Adams and her husband Donald of New Bedford. Six brothers; Kenneth, Robert and Brian Pereira of Dartmouth, Michael and his wife Sheila of Dartmouth, Jeffrey and his wife Roxana and Richard and his wife Robin of New Bedford, his brother in-law Steven Vieira of Dartmouth and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Cynthia Vieira.
Mr. Pereira’s funeral will be Thursday beginning at 8:45 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. with a service to be celebrated at Hope Evangelical Community Church, 88 Hathaway Rd, in Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend both events. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his memory to St. Judes Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, Tenn 38105-3675.
