Manuel Carvalho

Taunton – Manuel Carvalho, age 92 years, died Thursday January 9, 2014 at Longmeadow of Taunton. He was the loving husband of Thelma (Pacheco) Carvalho. Manuel was born in New Bedford and was the son of Margaret J. (Medeiros) and Joseph Carvalho. Mr. Carvalho worked as a used car salesman for many years as well as owning and operating most of the city cab companies.

Cpl. Manuel Carvalho proudly served his country in the United States Army/Air Force during WWII, held the rank of Corporal and was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.

His surviving family includes his wife, Thelma of Berkley; his children: Joyce Roberts of California and Jean Tavares and her husband, John, of Berkley, MA; 2 Grandchildren: Wendy Doucette and Wayne Carvalho; 2 Great-Grandchildren: Mac and Jake Carvalho as well as a Daughter in law Gloria Carvalho of Dartmouth.

Mr. Carvalho’s arrangements are private and have been placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
