Rosa Fidalgo Pereira

New Bedford - Rosa Fidalgo Pereira- age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at The Oaks in New Bedford. She was the widow of Luis dos Santos Pereira and the daughter of Julia (Marques) and Arnoldo Fidalgo. She was born in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, lived in Africa from 1951 to 1982 before moving to this area. Rosa was a master Seamstress and did work at Albert Nipon in Philadelphia as well as factories in Portugal. As part of her expertise, she made bridal gowns and other exquisite dresses. She was a devout Christian and belonged to the First Portuguese Baptist Church for many years. Rosa was a high energy woman who loved spending time with her family and travelling to Portugal.

Her surviving family includes her 2 children: Luis Fidalgo Pereira and his wife, Isabel, of Cartaxo, Portugal and Julia Victorino and her late husband, Daniel, of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren: Helder Victorino, Angela Pereira, Bruno Pereira and Tania Pais; 3 great grandchildren: Santiago Martins, Caetana Martins and Gabriel Pais; a brother, Arnoldo Fidalgo; a God daughter, Rosa Maria Catulo, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her funeral will be Thursday morning at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, beginning at 8:00 A.M. with a Religious Service to begin at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and visiting hours are omitted.
