Raymond F. Bernier, age 44, passed away on Saturday November 23, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a hard fought battle with a long illness. He was the loving husband of Claudia (Camarao) Bernier and the son of the late Margaret E. Raney and the late Albert Bernier, Sr. Raymond was born in Chelsea, Ma, lived most of his life in Thomaston, Maine and spent the last 18 years in New Bedford. He was employed as a Residential Counselor for F.L. Chamberlain International School in Middleboro, Ma. and enjoyed playing and composing music with his children, reading, history and camping in Eastbrook, Me. Raymond took much pride in his work as helping people was very important to him.
His family includes his wife, Claudia M. Bernier, of New Bedford; 2 sons: John A. Bernier and Nicholas A. Bernier, both of New Bedford; 4 siblings: Marie-denise Bernier, Michelle Bernier and Albert Bernier, Jr. all of Thomaston, Maine, and the late Robert Bernier; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bernier’s funeral will be Wednesday, November 27 at PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, beginning at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
