Providence – Steven L. Motta, of New Bedford, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday November 17, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Correia) Motta with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frances D. (Swiatlowska) Motta and Alfred Motta. He worked as a Drug and Rehab Counselor at Steppingstone in Fall River. He also owned Signs by Motta in New Bedford and also was employed at Sunrise Cable. Steve was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1973, and he was a well-educated man, having studied in England. Mr. Motta was also a noted writer having three of his pieces published in Biker Magazine. Steven loved motorcycles and took much joy in helping other people. Steve also played darts in the Bristol County Dart League for many years.
His family includes his wife, Patricia of New Bedford; his daughter, Michelle Correia of New Bedford, a granddaughter, Brittany Cabral; a brother, David Motta and his wife Kim of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Motta will be cremated. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday November 30 at The First Church of Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd. in New Bedford, beginning at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of Life will follow at the VFW, 281 Appleton St. in New Bedford. Arrangements placed in the care of PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
