Gloria S. Alcobia

New Bedford-Gloria S. Alcobia died September 24, 2004 at the Taber Street Nursing Home. She was the mother of Edith Nichols of New Bedford, She was the grandmother of Catherine L. Nichols, of New Bedford, and Kenneth A. Nichols, of Bridgewater, She was the great-grandmother of James W. Nichols of Bridgewater, she was the sister of Joseph N. Alcobia Jr. of Dartmouth, and Ricardo N. Alcobia of New Bedford, and Elizabeth C. Souza of Westport. She was also survived by several nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Alcobia was the daughter of Jose N. and Mary G. (Silva) Alcobia. She was the general manager at Tagus Wholesale Grocery. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of “44”. She was secretary of Trolley Inc. of New Bedford, secretary of Hetty Green Society.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday September 27, 2004 at St. Lawrence Church at 11 A.M. Visiting hours were private at the request of the family.
