Dartmouth - Filomena Pascoal, age 98, died on Saturday October 26th, 2013 at home with her family by her side. She was the beloved widow of Jose Goulart Pascoal. Filomena was born in Faial, Açores, a daughter of Maria (Tomasia) and Jose DaRosa Freitas Dutra. She immigrated to this country in 1960 and worked as a Seamstress at Elco Dress Manufacturing until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts and was a dedicated parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church and more recently Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Her surviving family includes her 3 children: Maria Angelina Peixoto formerly of New Bedford; Joseph Pascoal and his wife Maria of Dartmouth; and Maria Turrisi of Bay Shore, NY; as well as 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by 2 sons in-laws: Thomas Peixoto and Kenneth Turrisi; and 8 Siblings
Filomena’s family would like to send a special thanks to Community Nurse and Hospice Care; the staff at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth, Our Lady’s Haven and the volunteers that visited Filomena at her home and gave her exceptional care and attention.
Filomena’s funeral will be Tuesday beginning at 9:30 A.M. at PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Community Nurse and Hospice Care 62 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
