Augusto De Araujo

Dartmouth - Augusto De Araujo, formerly of New Bedford, age 88, died on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the beloved husband of Dezideria (Gouveia) of New Bedford. Augusto was born in Port de Mos Portugal, a son of the late Maria (Moreira) and Antonio De Araujo. After leaving Porto de Mos, Augusto moved to this area in 1968. He was a huge soccer fan and a big Benfica fan. He was also a former member of Portuguese American Athletic Club.
His surviving family includes his children: Isabel Santos and her husband Joaquim Santos of Dartmouth, Teresa Santos and her husband Joao of Portugal, Abel Araujo and his wife Ana, Victor Araujo and his wife Gloria and Joe Araujo and his wife Maria all of Dartmouth, Paul De Araujo and his partner David Medeiros of New Bedford; as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was the father of the late Carlos De Araujo and brother of the late Ilda Araujo, Maria E. Moreira, and Antonio De Araujo.
Augusto’s funeral will be Monday beginning at 8:00 A.M. at PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Sunday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
