Abel Manuel Vieira

New Bedford - Abel Manuel Vieira, age 82, died on Friday, October 11, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Vieira was the husband of Benvinda (Lopes Silva) Vieira. Abel was born in Cape Verde Islands, a son of the late Gertrude (Dias) and Joaquim Manuel Vieira.
His family includes his son, Manuel Vieira of Dartmouth, daughter, Emilia Barros of New Bedford, daughter, Maria Vieira Castro of Fall River and father of the late Ivone Pedria. He is also survived by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by several siblings.
Mr. Vieira’s funeral will be Tuesday at the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of The Assumption Church at 9:00 A.M. Visiting Hours will take place Monday Evening, October 14 from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
