Antero Rita Couto

New Bedford- Antero Rita Couto, age 56, died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at home in New Bedford. He was the beloved husband of Zenaida Maria Couto. Antero was born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel, Açores, a son of the late Herminia daCosta (Rita) and the late Francisco Linhares doCouto. Antero worked as a machine operator at Schaefer Marine.
His surviving family includes his wife, Zenadia; son: Brian Carreiro Couto and his wife Kiley of Quincy, ma; siblings: Leonia and Lia DeDeus, Joao, Jose, Mario and Antonio Couto all of New Bedford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Antero’s funeral will be Thursday beginning at 9:30 A.M. at PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend
