Dartmouth – Albertina C. Oliveira, age 70, passed away on Sunday September 8, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of João Oliveira for 48 years. Albertina was born in Murtosa, Portugal, the daughter of Maria Da Ascencão (de Pinho) and Alfredo Campos. She will be remembered as a loving wife and for her dedicated nurturing of her children and grandchildren. Albertina worked at Columbia Electronics and Volex after immigrating to the United States in 1972.
Her surviving family includes her husband, João, of Dartmouth, her 3 children: John Oliveira of New Bedford, Ann Catana of Dartmouth, and Christine Morrison also of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren: Joshua Oliveira, Kristen Catana, Sara Catana, Abigail Morrison, and Alexa Morrison; her siblings: Antonio Campos of New Bedford, Ascencão Fonseca of Portugal, and Amelia Rodrigues of New Jersey, as well as several nieces and nephews. Albertina is predeceased by several other siblings.
Mrs. Oliveira’s funeral will be Thursday, September 12 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford beginning at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
