Emilia Silva

New Bedford- Emilia Silva, age 101, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Pacheco daSilva. Emilia was born in Pico, Açores, Portugal a daughter of the late Maria Jose (Jesus) and the late Jose Silveira Avila. She moved to this country in 1970 and, prior to her retirement, she worked as an Assembler for Columbia Electronics.
Her survivors include her daughters: Maria Terra and Albina DaSilva both of New Bedford and Deolinda Dinis of Terceira, Azores as well as 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Emilia was predeceased by her son Orlando Silva and her siblings Manuel Silveira Avila and June Silveira Avila.
Mrs. Silva's funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a service to begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
