Manuel J. Medeiros

New Bedford – Manuel J. Medeiros, age 64, passed away on Friday August 2, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Zelia F. (Pereira) Medeiros. He was born in Sao Miguel, Açores, a son of Maria (da Luz) and Francisco Medeiros. He, and his family, moved to this country in 1967 where he worked as a Construction Foreman at Cape and Island Tennis and Track Construction. Manuel was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
His surviving family includes his wife, Zelia, of New Bedford; 5 children: Elizabeth C. O’Brien and her husband Paul of Dartmouth, Daniel C. Medeiros and his wife Christine of New Bedford, David C. Medeiros of New Bedford, Manuel C. Medeiros and his fiance Cheryl of New Bedford and Teresa Reynolds and her husband Shawn of North Carolina; 5 siblings: Lourdes Amaral of California, Filomena Cordeiro of New Bedford, Januario de Medeiros of Fairhaven, Fernando Medeiros of Dartmouth and Jose Medeiros of Dartmouth; as well as 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Medeiros’ funeral will be Wednesday, August 7 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
