Maria C. Vital

New Bedford – Maria C. Vital, age 102, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. Mrs. Vital was the beloved widow of Jose Vital. She was born in New Bedford a daughter of Maria Thereza and Jose Medeiros. She lived in this area all her life and was a homemaker.
Her survivors includes her 5 grandchildren: Susan Riley, Rita Pine both of New Bedford Sherry Bettencourt, Robert Bettencourt both of Dartmouth and Diane Rodriques of New Bedford, 8 great grand children, 1 great-great grandchild and her son in law Diniz Manteiga.
Maria was predeceased by her daughters: Teresa Manteiga, Odilia "Dee” Bettencourt and Julieta Rocha; 3 siblings: Isabel Tavares, Gloria Raposo and Jose Medeiros.
Mrs. Vital’s funeral will be Monday, July 15 at 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
