Maria L. Sousa

Dartmouth – Maria L. Sousa, age 82, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. Luke’s. She was the beloved wife of Manuel H. Sousa of Dartmouth. She was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Açores, a daughter of the late Maria (Verissimo) and Manuel Cunha. She moved to this country in 1969 and worked as a Stitcher at the Cliftex Corp. until her retirement.
Her survivors include her husband; 3 loving children: Mario J. Sousa and his wife Jackie of New Bedford; Joe Sousa and his wife Fran, Sandra Sousa both of Dartmouth, 2 sisters; Fatima Correia of Dartmouth, Esaura Pacheco of New Bedford, 6 grandchildren; Tiffanie, Brianne, Nicole and Chad Sousa, Frank and Mackenzie Pinho, 3 great-grandchildren; Kyle, Aniah, Kaelyn as well as several nieces and nephews.
Maria was predeceased by her brothers; Gil, Joe and Manuel Cunha.
Maria’s funeral will be Wednesday, June 26 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth, beginning at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
