New Bedford – Maria Isabel (Cesar) Couto, age 61 years, died Saturday, May 25th, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Manuel C. doCouto of New Bedford. She was born in Livramento, Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Açores, a daughter of the late Maria doCarmo (Bento) and Joao Francisco Cesar. After moving to this country in 1971, she worked as a stitcher for Langshaw Manufacturing.
Maria’s survivors include her husband Manuel; her 3 children: Louis Couto and his fiancé Autumn Brown of Florida, Gilda Couto, and Christine Damaso and her husband David, both of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren: Marina, Matthew, Kyle, Derrin, Isabella, Brielle and Quinn; her mother in-law Maria O. DoCouto of S. Dartmouth; her siblings: Joao Cesar of New Hampshire, Fatima Cesar, Louis Cesar and Mario Cesar all of Açores; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her brothers: Raul and Jose Cesar
At this time the family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital and Alden Court for their caring and kindness.
Mrs. Couto’s services were private. Arrangements were by the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, MA.
